K.ö.k sees itself as part of a wide and diverse practice of decolonial, feminist organising happening across the world today. Here we try and map and share some of the groups, collectives and feminists who we collaborate with, who support and who inspire k.ö.k’s work.
Al Madhafah / The Living Room
Sandi Hilal during 2018 has worked with accomodation for asylum seekers in Boden, in the North of Sweden. One of the accommodation's apartments has been converted into Al Madhafah / The Living Room - a room for shared activities. Whether it is an open preschool for small children or brunch meetings, the events that happen in the room activate a host that has not existed before. This is where the conceptual artistic idea lies, in the possibility of, as new arrivals to Sweden, creating meetings and hosting others on their own terms. Al Madhafah / The Living Room is a space for knowledge exchange, activism and social mobilization - in which art creates space for meetings, understanding and collaboration.
LinkCasco
Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons, envisions expanding art and art institutional practices of the commons, and contributing to, protecting, and generating these commons against increasing privatization, inequality and oppression. Instead of accumulation, alienation, apathy and competition, Casco envisions more distribution of power and wealth, namely a general culture of sharing and caring, and with respect for equal rights to a good life.
